Side note… Before we went to Houston Tyler had a birthday and the weekend after we went camping. Sorry no pics were taken because I forgot my camera. It was a fun adventure with the dogs, the Adams family, the Fedewa family, and for a day the Phillips family! The kids all had fun and we came home with a stomach bug. I think next time we will go with just our family and not make anyone join us!
But back to what this post is about. Reno has some kind of event every weekend pretty much the whole summer. We dont go to things like Street Vibrations because not a fan of Motorcycles and honestly the gangs scare me! This year there was some shootings. Those things I would rather avoid. But one of our favorite events is the Hot Air Balloons!
This year the Adams family went with us and since it involves us waking up at 4 AM we decided to just have a sleep over. The girls were beyond excited! We had dinner and then we all went to bed! We woke up at 4 got ready and hit the road. It only takes 25 minutes to get there but there is traffic to park and we have to walk and find a seat all before it starts at 5:30 am. At 5:30 they have the dawn patrol where they light the balloons and let some of them up in air! It is pretty cool to see them glow in the night sky!
Jeri was smart enough to think to bring donuts and Oj. So while we waited for the sun to come up and see all the balloons we had a snack and the girls played.
It is such a fun event! Those balloons are huge!! And it takes a lot of work to get them up! So worth getting up at 4 AM to see! Just so glad we all got to nap later!
While we are on the Reno events kick….
My heart goes out to the families who lost loved ones in the Reno Air Races this year when a plane that was racing crashed into the crowd. Such a sad scary event for all involved! We were at this event on the same day last year and if it wasn’t for other plans we thought about going to it again. I am so glad that we didn’t! Not sure I could handle seeing that!
